I'm a nearsighted, married lesbian born during the Summer of Love. Though naturally bookish, I grew up over-exposed to the great outdoors, running wild with horses and coyotes in the foothills of the Rockies. I was a rodeo princess when I was 14. I've climbed mountains and crossed paths with bears. I've had two skidoo accidents. Skidoos are the incarnation of evil.
I've smelled a polar bear's breath and been licked by a giraffe. My dead grandmother has given me a sign from the beyond that she's watching over me. Seriously.
As of February 2005 I am no longer bilaterally symmetrical. All hail the hysterectomy. Hallelujah! I enjoy gloating about being free of menstruation. Bobo the octopus is my avatar and god, and she's also a symbol of my departed uterus.
Reading is my absolute favourite thing to do. I love science fiction and fantasy. I'm currently writing historical fiction, though. How did that happen?
Blogging turned me into a national wine columnist. As of the May 2008 issue, I co-write Chatelaine's new wine column. You can read my wine blog on your friends list.
I'm an alto in the Vancouver Lesbian and Gay Choir. Singing in harmony with 40 of my friends is one of the most wonderful things in the world.
I think there are plenty of most wonderful things in the world.
I'm an excellent cook and baker, famous among friends and family for carrot cake, black forest cake, brownies, biscuits, paella and poulet aux noix. My ambition is to become a goddess of the kitchen.
My superpower is always being right. Funny thing about claiming to always be right -- people remember it even when you've been desperately wrong on occasion. I've been wrong tons of times, but since I started claiming to be always right, people believe it. We make our own reality. Or something.

planetalyx, and in the summer of 2003 we were legally married. Getting legally married was the most profound experience of my life. I know, I know, weddings, people do it. Well, doesn't matter. Fucking profound. I was blown away.
2008 was the hardest year of my life. 2009 better be stellar. You're on notice, 2009! So far, not so good!
